Valle d'Aosta offers a truly interesting range of possibilities for Nordic skiing in terms of variety, difficulty of the slopes, ever-changing views and peculiarities that each village has been able to preserve over time. Always snow-covered and perfectly groomed slopes, distributed in 23 different localities in the area, each with its own character, a unique history, breathtaking scenery, immersed in unspoiled nature at the foot of the giants of the Alps. Many stations also offer a "foyer de fond" , a service structure for skiers with rooms for waxing, changing rooms and showers. In some localities (Cogne or in Val Ferret for example), in addition to the ski slopes, there are also footpaths . There are five macro areas that host the main ski resorts:
Hundreds of kilometers of slopes await you, both for skating and alternating, where it is not unusual to meet wild animals or champions of the caliber of Arianna Follis, Elisa Brocard and Federico Pellegrino.
The cross-country trails of Torgnon develop in two directions: towards the middle
Valtournenche (Grandes Montagnes) and towards the south, in the direction of the Col des Bornes (Maisonnettes).
The Grandes Montagnes slope rises decisively towards the alpine ski slopes and stretches along the coast on the western side of Valtournenche in a panoramic and peaceful landscape.
The Maisonnettes slope develops in a thick coniferous forest. The simplest first part (3 km loop), develops around the school camp, stretching towards the lower part of the alpine ski slopes, with beautiful descents on open slopes, characterized by wide views of Mount Tantané.
Brusson has a track, called Trois Villages, which, in addition to the capital, touches the villages of Arcésaz, Vollon and Extremiéraz.
Ascents, descents, winding curves, between larch and fir groves, alternate with large panoramic spaces. Overall, between Brusson and Estoul there are 60 kilometers of slopes, for all levels and always in good condition thanks to the programmed snow-making system.
Cogne is the Aosta Valley queen of cross-country skiing.
The slopes wind under the peaks of Grivola and Gran Paradiso for 80 km, crossing the villages of Epinel, Lillaz, Valnontey in the heart of the Gran Paradiso National Park.
The variety of slopes and the different lengths of the trails can satisfy any technical level.
